Purpose

As Technology Director at Invisible Dynamics, you will take ownership of the company's technology backbone, supporting a growing 90+ global team with offices in LA, NYC and London. You will inherit our current infrastructure and take direct responsibility for every system, device, and network across the business. You will provide both strategic leadership and operational governance to ensure the company’s technology environment is stable, secure, scalable, and aligned with business priorities.

This role will be responsible for how Invisible Dynamics leverages technology (including AI), evaluating current tools, setting security and usage standards, and helping teams across different departments put AI to work responsibly and effectively. You will partner closely with leadership to understand where technology can remove friction, protect and streamline the business, unlock new capabilities, translating that into systems and safeguards the whole company can rely on.

You report directly to the Managing Director, and will have the mandate to assess what's currently in place, optimize and consolidate, and build the standards, systems, and safeguards that support consistent IT services for the team globally.

Essential Skills

You are an experienced technology leader with a strong foundation in IT infrastructure, systems administration, and information security. You ideally have direct experience building a company that has scaled through a similar size and stage of growth. You are comfortable being hands-on and collaborative. You have strong communication skills and are able to create clear technology standards and policies across the organization.

You are:

  • A seasoned infrastructure owner — you have built or matured IT infrastructure for a fast-growing, creative organization, and you know how to design systems that are reliable as headcount grows.

  • Strategic foresight — you can anticipate where the company's technology needs are heading and position the organization proactively versus reacting to it.

  • A security first thinker —  security isn't an afterthought or a checkbox. You proactively identify risk across networks, devices, data, and third-party tools, building the policies and safeguards that close those gaps.

  • AI fluent— you understand the AI tools reshaping how creative and strategic work gets done, and can evaluate and introduce them in a way that balances innovation with data security and responsible use.

  • A reliable, fast-acting problem solver — you respond quickly and reliably when technology issues arise, while focused on building the systems and processes that keep the company's technology consistent and reliable for the long term.

  • A clear communicator — you translate technical risk and technical decisions into terms that non-technical leaders and employees can act on, and build trust through clarity and working collaboratively.

  • A disciplined operator — you can manage any necessary vendor relationships, licensing, and the technology budget with a strong sense of value and the ability to negotiate contracts that support the business long term.

  • A trusted advisor — you're the person the company relies on for support on technology problems, risk, opportunity, and investment.

You bring technical depth, security judgment, and collaboration to every decision. You care as much about the systems running in background to the tools everyone uses every day.

Responsibilities

IT Infrastructure & Operations

  • Own and maintain the IT infrastructure supporting a 100+ person and growing company, including networks, hardware, cloud services, and business applications.

  • Responsible for computer procurement, set-up, onboarding, and offboarding, ensuring every employee has secure, reliable access to the tools they need from day one.

  • Build a technology roadmap that scales with the company, anticipating infrastructure needs as headcount, offices, and client engagements grow.

  • Create a help desk system for the company, owning the platform end to end and ensuring every employee request or issue gets a fast, clear, and accountable response.

  • Monitor system performance and reliability, and lead resolution of IT issues, outages, and support requests across the organization.

  • Own the technology budget, including licensing, hardware, and infrastructure spend, and make the case for investments that support growth.

  • Monitor the use of software used across the business, understanding how it can affect overall security risk and observing where newly adopted software should be centrally licenced.

  • Evaluate, manage and support selecting the software and platforms that power the business.

Security & Risk Management

  • Own the security of all IT systems, networks, and data — establishing policies, access controls, and monitoring that protect the company and its clients.

  • Understanding the importance of creating a smooth user experience when establishing  safeguards across the systems and networks.

  • Assess and optimize the security of ID's cloud systems and environments. Including access management, network segmentation, and continuous monitoring for misconfigurations or unauthorized access.

  • Assess and manage the access control standards across cloud platforms and business applications, ensuring permissions follow standard principles and are reviewed on a regular cadence as the team grows.

  • Optimize and oversee the infrastructure that protects confidential client information — including secure storage, encryption, data segmentation between clients, retention and deletion policies, and controls on how client data is shared or accessed internally.

  • Vet the security posture of cloud providers, SaaS tools, and other third parties that touch company or client data. Evaluate and maintain a system that protects sensitive data.

  • Develop an incident response program for any security events, including breaches involving client data, building the protocols, escalation paths, training, and documentation that reduce risk before incidents happen.

  • Manage compliance, contractual, and regulatory data security requirements for all clients. Including NDAs, data handling agreements, and sensitive information shared. Working closely with the Managing Director to respond to client security questionnaires and audits.

  • Conduct regular risk assessments and penetration testing across cloud infrastructure and third-party vendors, and drive timely remediation of identified vulnerabilities.

AI Strategy & Implementation

  • Own AI security and governance across the company, setting clear policies for how employees can safely and responsibly use AI tools with company and client data.

  • Continuously monitor current AI platforms and suggest alternative tools that could improve how ID's teams work.

  • Lead the technical implementation and rollout of approved AI tools, including access management, training, and ongoing monitoring.

  • Stay ahead of the evolving AI landscape — emerging tools, risks, and regulations — and translate what matters into recommendations for leadership.

Media & Data Management

  • Develop a secure, accessible data management system that provides flexibility and scalability within our data landscape.

  • Develop and implement infrastructure for media management and archiving across the business, while enabling more efficient and scalable media production workflows.

  • Ensure document and media storage systems offer a best in class user experience, are future proof, and adhere to security and risk policies.

Leadership & Collaborative Partnership

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all technology matters, partnering with leadership and teams across various cities and departments to support their needs.

  • Advise the CEO, and Managing Director on any technology risk, opportunity, and investment that support clear business decisions.

  • Build out the technology function as the company grows, including the hiring of additional IT or security support when needed.

  • Champion a culture of security awareness and technology literacy across the company through training and clear communication.

Logistical Requirements

The Technology Director will be based out of our Los Angeles office, with remote candidates considered given the nature of the role. The salary range for this role is $150,000-$175,000 USD annually with medical, dental, vision, life insurance and unlimited PTO. For local hires, Monday – Thursday required in office, optional Work-from-home Fridays. Travel within the US and internationally may be required based on company needs. As the person responsible for the company's technology and security, you should expect to be reachable outside standard hours when systems or security issues require it, and the role may involve working extended hours, including evenings and weekends, when needed.
